Setup and Registration
Most account issues on Reddit originate before the first comment is ever written. Technical baseline:- One account per proxy
- Mobile proxies preferred during the early period; residential for long-term use
- Fixed geolocation — never change the region
- English-speaking regions perform best (US, UK, CA, AU)
Profile Setup
An incomplete profile is one of the strongest negative trust signals on Reddit. Complete the profile immediately after registration:- Add a neutral bio (no links)
- Set an avatar — default or a neutral image is fine
- Add a profile background
- Run a few searches using Reddit’s search bar
- Subscribe to several subreddits
Establishment Timeline
| Period | Focus | Account Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Day 0 | Preparation | Browser activity, registration |
| Days 1–3 | Profile formation | Setup, subscriptions |
| Days 4–7 | Passive phase | Reading, occasional upvotes |
| Days 7–10 | First engagement | Short, context-relevant comments |
| Days 10–14 | Building signals | Longer comments, first post |
| Week 3+ | Normal use | Regular content and discussion |
The Passive Phase
During the passive phase, the account does not post or comment. It behaves like a new reader:- Scrolls the feed and switches between sorting modes (Hot, New, Top)
- Reads comment threads
- Browses subreddits through Explore
- Upvotes posts occasionally
Moving to Active Participation
Activity begins gradually after the passive phase. Start with very short, neutral comments — 3 to 5 words, relevant to the thread, never templated or repeated. After a few days, comments can become more substantive, without increasing their frequency. The first post should be low-stakes: a photo, a question, or a casual discussion. No external links, no brand mentions, no promotion.Safe Activity Levels
| Action | Safe Frequency |
|---|---|
| Upvotes | 10–20 per day |
| Comments (first two weeks) | 2–3 per day |
| Comments (after two weeks) | Up to 5–7 per day |
| Posts | 1 every 2–3 days |
| New subscriptions | Occasional |
Behavioral Signals
Reddit observes how users interact with the platform, not just what they post. Natural browsing looks like:- 1–5 minutes spent per page
- Scrolling with pauses, occasional scroll-backs
- Navigation between subreddits via internal links
Detecting Visibility Restrictions
Reddit’s visibility restrictions — sometimes called shadow bans — mean the account appears to function normally for its owner, but posts and comments are invisible to others. Common indicators:- Profile avatar resets to default
- Comments are visible when logged in but absent when viewed logged out
- A red “Server error” notification appears in the feed
